From it's inception in 2015 Desert Heart Song Festival has seen many changes. Our last one in 2024 with a new but old director was hugely successful, with a total of nine choirs at the historic Kalgoorlie Town Hall.
In 2025, with a new Director, the choir continued to expand in numbers and explored an interesting new repertoire. 2026 will see the return of the Desert Heart Song Festival to Kalgoorlie. This time we will revisit our original venue at the Goldfields Arts Centre plus a range of events around town.
The Desert Heart Song Festival is open to all "Community" and "Not For Profit" choirs. There will be one large event on the Saturday evening plus several smaller events around town on Friday, Saturday morning and Sunday. (see below).
Typical Format :- Friday night - Meet and greet. Registration will open early 2026 but for now expressions of interest are welcome. Contact: Rosemary on ofni@twouptwodownten.
Saturday morning - Choirs will be given different venues for singing.
Saturday afternoon - Rehearsals.
Saturday evening - The Main Concert (open to the public) followed by being bused to
a large hotel (this is free time and party time).
Sunday morning - Choirs will be allotted to a Church of their own choice.
Barbecue and lunch at a selected venue where Choirs will be able to sing as well.
Closing in time to be on the train at 2.00pm.
